According to the Instagram page @izzyandlive, Barbie is set to drop their Aaliyah Barbie Signature Doll on January 16, 2025, which would be Aaliyah’s 46th birthday. This is a wish come true for many fans, who have been stating for years that an Aaliyah Barbie Signature Doll is a must due to her iconic fashion sense and style.
Hayden Williams, an extremely talented fashion designer who has worked with models Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss and brands such as Rimmel London, Kylie Cosmetics, and Bratz, shared on the post pictured above that he was involved in the project of creating the iconic doll and worked with Aaliyah’s brother Rashad on creative direction.
Music
Fans of Aaliyah have been waiting for years for her to get the recognition and revival that the “One In A Million” artist deserves. Aaliyah’s music was not available on any streaming services until 2021 due to a legal dispute between her estate and record label Blackground Records (except her first album Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number, due to it being on Jive Records). In an article posted on Variety in 2021, Aaliyah’s estate voiced they have “always been ready to share Aaliyah’s musical legacy but has been met with contention and a gross lack of transparency.” Luckily, Aaliyah’s estate and Blackground Records were able to come to an agreement and her music was released, satisfying longtime fans of her while gaining new ones. She currently has 5 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Makeup
On June 21, 2023, MAC Cosmetics dropped a MAC x Aaliyah lipstick collection with names like One in A Million, Try Again, More Than A Woman, and Street Thing, which are names of some of her most popular songs. The collection also includes a bronzing powder, eyeshadow palette, and lip pencils. The products are not sold on the MAC website as of now, but you can purchase them on sites like Amazon and Ebay.
With the Aaliyah Signature Barbie Doll dropping in just a month, this will add another collective item for the late Baby Girl fans. Now all we need is a fashion line…
